David Lee White is a playwright. He's an actor too. He has also directed several plays, but finds it stressful. Beyond that, there's not a whole lot to write about him. He 42 years old, works in Trenton, and is currently on medication for high blood pressure. It's okay though, because he's also on a low-sodium diet.

NEWS, NEWS, AND MORE NEWS! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SOMEONE STOP ALL THIS NEWS!  My new full-length play SLIPPERY AS SIN will be premiering at Passage Theatre in May of 2012. It's a comic thriller about conspiracy theories, master criminals and torture that isn't really torture. In the style of the old-dark-house thrillers of the 1930s, it's Edgar Wallace meets the Tea Party. I'm also gearing up for a second production of BLOOD: A COMEDY next Spring with the good folks at Dreamcatcher Rep and I'm currently working with June Ballinger on another Trenton-centric oral history piece on the topic of race.

Blood: A Comedy

By David Lee White
Directed by Adam Immerwahr
A hilarious and irreverent comedy about faith, science, family and hot pepper cheese cubes, featuring Passage Theatre Artistic Director, June Ballinger!
November 5-22, 2009

Jacqueline Stanzi is an eccentric life-long atheist and college professor who has just lost her tenure for trying to teach intelligent design in a science class. Struggling with confusion and memory loss, Jacqueline decides that the only way to save her mind – and her highly dysfunctional family – from destroying itself is for them all to get religion. What better time for a family confessional than the eve of her daughter’s wedding and the joining of two bloodlines?

Contains adult language, themes, and some dirty jokes that will make you feel guilty for snickering.

"White, who also serves as the Passage Theater's Associate Director, has concocted a raucously philosophical farce, one that I concede, must be seen to be believed. " - Simon Saltzman, Curtain Up.
"Reasonably mature, liberal-minded adults will have a ball. You may even be prompted to think about things like the capacity for love, the nature of spirituality, or what constitutes a family..." Bob Brown, The Princeton Packet
"White is an equal-opportunity insulter of the human condition"  Peter Filichia, New Jersey Star-Ledger
"David L. White's new play...is funny. It's very, very funny on several levels. The dialogue is smart, sassy and rapid-fire." Bob Brown, The Princeton Packet
"David Lee White’s “Blood: A Comedy” couldn’t be cleverer as it deals with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, a soap-opera-style family shocker and reflections on the existence of God." Anita Gates, The New York Times
